Today SFD was back with the Spotswood Police Department for their jr police academy, this time however, we provided coverage for the New Jersey State Police medevac landing zone.
Tuesday SFD teamed up with the Spotswood Police Department for their annual jr police academy. Students had the opportunity to see the various types of equipment used by the fire department, including trying on full structural firefighting gear and a cold water immersion suit.
Regretfully the Spotswood Fire Department announces the passing of Ex-Chief and Past President Nicholas Poliseno at the age of 41 from 9/11 related illnesses from his work during the recovery operation at Ground Zero with ConEdison. Nick joined the department in 1997, in addition to his 20 years of service to the department, including being President in 2000 and 2001, and Chief from 2010-2012.
Visitation will be at the Brunswick Memorial Home, 454 Cranbury Road, East Brunswick, on Thursday, July 25 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, with a Fire Department Service at 7 pm. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019, at 9:45 am at the funeral home followed by a burial mass at 10:30 am at Immaculate Conception Church, Interment will follow at Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick.

The Spotswood Fire Department Enterprise Hook & Ladder Inc., is a 100% volunteer organization providing fire protection, rescue, and other services to the 8,200 residents of the Borough of Spotswood, located in southern Middlesex County, New Jersey, nestled between East Brunswick, Monroe, and Old Bridge Townships. Covering a service area of 2.5
square miles, we operate with three engines, a brush unit, out of two stations, one on Main Street and one at the Borough Yard on Third Street.
